My Favorite Things...
As a mom of two little girls, I've tried many different items and brands over the years and have come up with a list of some my favorite things for babies, children, and mommies...and the list keeps growing...
My overall FAVORITE thing:
- Home-made gifts and decor for baby! I am very, very fortunate to have a terrific mom who made all the decor for both daughter's nurseries. Using bright colored flannel and chenile (vintage and new), she created a one-of-a-kind quilt, bumper, cradle bumper, sheet, crib skirt, and other stuff for each girl. Since the girls share their room, Devon's decor coordinates in color and theme with Sami's but is still uniquely hers. She has also made beautiful bibs, burp cloths, aprons, stuffed animals, and much more for the girls and her cousins!
I love looking in boutiques and on Etsy for those one-of-a-kind
special items for my girls or for a gift. From hair bows to burp cloths to bibs, I love the uniqueness of the item and the fact that I'm helping to support someone's home business.
If you have a home business selling unique hand-made baby and/or children's items, I'll love to help support you and your business. Contact me at lbsmason@comcast.net and/or see

My favorite thing to carry around baby:
- Sleepy Wrap (www.sleepywrap.com) - this wrap is SO comfortable you almost forget you are carrying around your baby. Adjustable for all sizes, washes and dries easily with your other laundry, and is compact to carry with you. When my youngest was cranky, I put her in here and she was off to lullaby land...and I had my hands free to do other things, even vacuuming and the dishes! She even stayed calm and comfortable in this wrap (except for a diaper change) for 6 hours during a football game as I was able to nurse her during the game while she was in the wrap! The best part is that the price is easily affordable...under $40 for the wrap and shipping!
My favorite diaper bag:
- Baby Sherpa diaper bag backpack (www.babysherpa.com) - this backpack is a lifesaver if you want to always be prepared! It has a ton of room and lots of compartments for organizing all the things you "need" to carry with you when you have a little one, and extra room for carrying stuff for the older kiddos as well. This bag is also "manly" enough that my husband actually enjoys carrying it as well...especially since ours is in camo.
My favorite shoes for little ones:
- Robeez (www.robeez.com) - I love these shoes! My first daughter didn't wear anything but Robeez until she was almost 2 years old and now my second one has started to wear them as well. I love them because they are flexible and almost like going barefoot, they can be washed in the washing machine, they don't come off, and they are just too darn cute!
My favorite new fun accessories for cooler weather:
- SkidPants from Dittany Baby (www.dittanybaby.com) and Baby Legs (www.babylegs.net). These are basically leg warmers (for those of us who remember the early 80's) for babies and kids. I have a couple pairs from both lines and like them equally, although Dittany Baby does have a line licensed by the NCAA so I have USC and Nebraska ones for my girls (I'm a Husker). Many more styles are available on ETSY hand-made by moms and grandmas! These are great for keeping little legs warm on colder days when wearing a skirt, dress, onsie, or shorts. Both my girls wear and share them. Plus...they dress up any outfit coming in fun colors and patterns.
